Rapper's Delight

The hip-hop from back in the day is sooo much different than now... It was a faster beat but not bass faster like today. The vocabulary is very different also!

RUF simply means Revolutionary United Front. This was a rebel army that fought a failed eleven year war in Sierra Leone. An amazing 100,000 child soldiers were reported as participants. Many were and still are being convicted and prosecuted.

Book Review of Wake

Wake is an okay book. It's a very girly book. I could not change books because I had over twenty pages read. This book is about little girl high school drama with boys, booze, and bad news. This girl goes from a shy quiet girl to a partying punk so to speak. The girl gets into the wrong crowd and is worried she will be blamed for the murder. I have only made it so far but I believe she will get caught and blamed for the murder of some kid. Her best friend is trying to save her.

Article 2- Pulling Sherman Alexie's Book

The Absolute True Diary of A Part-time Indian is being debated. Some parents think that this book should be pulled from schools because the vulgarity and graphic like images. I disagree, this book does not actually encourage high school students to have sex or swear, in reality, high school students make their own decisions.

Stressed...

This class has definitely put a lot of stress on me but I made it... Between work and people, I was always feeling like I had to go to a nut house! Other than work really, I would have passed with flying colors. This class is a pretty cool class overall but it does have it's ups and it's downs. English 10 is what people call us. When people ask what class I'm in, I proudly say, Alt. Ed. English. They start laughing but I do enjoy this class!! A lot!
!!!!!I'll Miss Everyone!!!!!

Night

Night-
This was not a book that I read in SSR but it is a book that I remember like crazy. This book was a unbelievable journey through what life really use to be. The Nazis ruled everything... Homes, businesses, and even people were "owned" like slaves. In this book the story follows a young boy that soon will have to face the facts of being a man at age 9ish. This book started off being a happy family just reading about the Nazis and soon after, tragedy strikes their home. Nazi officers barge through the door. Everyone worked. The men and the women were separated so that was the end to the happy family. Divided by age next... Old and young, killed! Teens to middle aged, Worked as well as beaten and starved.
This Boy brings us along for a death defying ride through hell and back. This was the reality tv show that scares everyone but unfortunately this was real. This was the best book of all time! I liked the informative sense in NIGHT.

To Cancer I Say

Cancer. A very scary thought! I have distant family members that were diagnosed with cancer. With the help of the hospitals all around Maine, they actually recovered fully. I would love to be able to give back to the hospitals and doctors that contributed to the cure. I would give money, clothes, anything to help! I would even volunteer my time to any of the hospital. I can't stress how much I thank the Cancer Society. Once again, Thank you so much!

The Sun N' Me

The sun. So bright. So needed. So me. This is my tarot card... I got to choose it this time but I chose The Sun because I see myself as bright, kinda needed, and just a happy person most of the time. When you think of the sun, you don't see anything special, well that is what I was looking for. I am nothing special. When I am there it is just like wow, look the sun, when I am not there, it's nothing new. People also wonder about me... well, I wonder about myself also...

the four ferocious roses

The four of us are a rose bush, always poking the others, competing for just about everything. The red of the rose pedal is the best color for us also. Red represents hate and terror not that we hate each other but if we are around each other for a long time we would defiantly think that. We have a bit of a twist to the taste too, you bite, we sting. Just the sight of us all gives you the sense of fighting and screaming at each other. Separately we are beautiful, all of us together is just way too much!

It's Faith.

IT’S FAITH

When I finally get a tattoo I want the name Faith on one wrist and Texas on the other. Faith is what I want to name my first daughter. Texas is going on my other wrist because I was born in Edna and I have always had a thing for Texas. Also if I end up getting another tattoo, it will be some sort of cool tribal tattoo. If not a tribal tattoo it will be a humorous tattoo. I know I shouldn’t get a tattoo because when I’m walking around at seventy years old it is not going to be attractive and probably not so hot for my health but I defiantly want to get Faith and Texas on my wrist. The tattoo above is kinda what I want except I would like them the other way and where it says hope, I want Texas.

This was a very hostile book. Night is a unbelievably terrifying death ride through ancient times. Also this book was full of so many different emotions including agony. Agony is a extreme physical or mental suffering. I mention this because you know what happened and yet you cannot do anything about it. The Jewish people of this book were tortured, abandoned, and starved to death. Nazi officers were the only people in charge and the Jews sometimes tried to protest against them but could not even begin to get an advantage. Jews that attempted to protest suffered the ultimate price, death. The Holocaust lasted about thirteen years all together but the man who wrote Night was only condemned for about one year but this was a year of starvation, departed from family, and tortured by oppressing Nazi officers. The victims of the Holocaust were unremitting and always worked hard with barely rewarded.
Night was a unforgettable story of this man that started out as a boy in 1933 and ended up being a man that has been scarred with brutal images of gruesome deaths of family and friends and even people he had never met. I personally don't think that any person should ever witness what Elie Wiesel did in his childhood or even adult hood. I also learned many things like when your in a life and death situation, your mind is not in control anymore it is your savaged body. When I think of myself being in that situation I think that I would rebel against them but as I mentioned before, you would either get beaten to very close to death or you would be killed! I think about if the Nazis have any remorse of what they had "accomplished". Also another thing I wonder is if the Jews ever did show fear and regret of being born or if they have ever thought of suicide during the Holocaust... In conclusion Night is a wonderful book and it is an excellent educating novel.

Dramatic Irony

In the play Macbeth, dramatic irony is shown very often. Dramatic Irony is when the audience knows more than the other characters, this also creates suspense and tension. There are many ways that dramatic irony is shown in Macbeth as I mentioned before. In ACT I, one of the dramatic irony events is the fact that Macbeth is plotting to kill King. The second is Malcolm is now prince and is fixing to take the throne. The third is that the King is planning to stay at Macbeth's castle. The last is, Macbeth now has a time and opportunity to kill the king.

Haiti and Help

Problems in Haiti

Since the 7.0 Earthquake left Haiti demolished, local and long-distance communities have been trying to pull together and help and even find the injured or possibly dead. This horrifying disaster started on January 12, 2010. The after-shock took place just a few days ago now and Haiti is in a desperate situation. As we all join in one to help recover from this crisis certain companies plan to put together funds and fundraisers to support Haiti. The American red cross is the holder for the largest fund collected so far. Currently this organization is in dyer need of tooth brushes and tooth paste. The U.S. has begun preparing Guantanamo Bay for Haitians moving from their homelands in search of fresh water, food, and much more. The United States has also sent more than 4,000 more troops to follow the Haiti earthquake.

Bloggin'

Bloggin'

Blogging has enhanced my thinking majorly. I personally like using the computers so I like the whole blogging idea. This is also a different and easier way to keep track of all kinds of work. Blogging is also a very public way of learning and teaching. I have learned so much about how to write using the blog writing form. Before this year i had the slightest clue how to make a blog. Now that you have introduced me to blogging I now know how to type well almost using all my fingers and I am now aware of the varieties in audiences. The whole world at any moment could be looking at my blog of all people, mine... By the end of this year I am definitely going to have a personal blog about my life and the stuff i have experienced and the things I look forward to in the near to far future. Anyways what I wanted to say about "Blogging" is that I love doing this. We should have been introduced to this fabulous invention as freshmen because I am more organized than ever before.

Runner

The Runner
By Carl Deuker

The Runner by Carl Deuker is a wonderful adventure. Although this is my second review over this book I still have a ton to say. The main character is named Chance Taylor. This 16 year old is a very polite young man. He puts everything before him. This book is about his story and his effort to regain wealth. Not that wealthy but just enough to get by is all this man needs. He and his father live on a little boat on Pier B. This boat that they live on is actually so small that it's name is the "Tiny Dancer". This dingy is run down and about to sink like a rock. 5 Years since this Tiny Dancer has seen the sea. Chance is the only one there for his father and the only one that supports him. Chance ends up getting a "under the table" job working for an older man. This job requires Chance to run his normal routine just with a back pack. Chance picks up packages on the beach hidden in the rocks and return them to the boat that him and his father inhabit. This job soon hits the fan when the police start snooping around Chance and this operation he works for. The "Boss", the older man is suddenly in a car crash and dies. The police believe it was a suicide but Chance knows better. The guy(s) above that man start taking action for the packages on Chance's boat. Chance panics and tells his father and his best friend's father who also help with this. Chance and his father open a package and the packages are full of plastic explosives that are very dangerous. His friend's father is helping chance while at their beach view home and in the mean time Chance's father is chased by the bad guys. They were chasing him for miles and miles on the boat that has been out of the water for 5 or more years. Chance was now following his father in a helicopter, from high above Chance realizes his father was heading right up the wrong way of the Marina heading straight for a cruise ship leaving. The bad guys finally got aboard and were aiming guns at him. At the last minute Chances father defended himself and attacked the men and launched himself off the boat into the water as the what was once a boat exploded into a million and one pieces. The police were now aware of the situation after Chance's father saved his son's life with this heroic sacrifice.

One of the best books I've ever read!

Steve's dream

What happens to Steve's dream now, gone?

Does Steve's dream drop
like a rock in water?
Or does it fly away?
Is he innocent like a puppy,
Or is he gone like Elvis?
Is he put prisoner or
loose like free Willy?

Will Steve be believed
Or sent away like a letter?

Or does he remain guided by guards?
